Ah yes, I remember the lyrics:
That's me at a cross-walk With them in the head-lights Choosing my collision

r/woosh reread the title of this post in the tune of that song

But the title of this post is just "meirl". It doesn't last that long.

The car driver has to be very skilled. It is more likely that there is no danger here.

The picture is missing option C, a cliff to the right where the driver will die if he drives off it.

The amount of people who don't get the R.E.M reference is too damn high

u/soboga 7d ago
I know, right? This is clearly a reference to rapid eye movement sleep.

u/theDreamingStar 7d ago
Explain
59
u/Roku-Hanmar 7d ago
REM is Rapid Eye Movement, or the stage of sleep where you dream. REM is also a band
24
u/soboga 7d ago
Rem is also Swedish for belt or strap.
25
u/glennert 7d ago
Rem is also Dutch for brake
→ More replies17
u/-AntiAsh- 7d ago

And yes I am.

The highness of people who recognise the REM reference is not high enough!

My uncle dated the singer of this band. Huge fan. This is my karaoke go to when I sing REM!
Also I’m high. He’s high. We all high
I was literally just referencing them in another thread yesterday.
15
u/Ibotenseure 7d ago
To be honest with you man, I couldn't pinpoint the reference either. I knew that this was to be some kind of joke, and most jokes involve allusions to something else, but I couldn't say what it was alluding to. I heard a bell ringing, but not clear enough

Explain me what the baby is doing here.

u/ConsistentCharge3347 7d ago
It's called crawling. They tend to do this before they learn to walk.

reminds me of the reasoning of Men In Black 1, where the new recruit shoots some suspicious youth carrying way too difficult math texts in the wrong neighborhood. Similarly, a baby crawling outside, on a rough road, happy despite the direct skin contact and what should be a scary environment, is suspicious.
my best guess is some hivemind has taken over both the baby and granny, as their expressions are the same and she does not seem the least bit worried about the baby or the incoming car, as if aware of the baby's location. She too is suspicious in how incredibly hunched her back is, yet seems jolly despite the backpains that ought to be ailing her.
the only solution is going on a kill spree running over everyone who seems too happy in order to prevent the hive mind from spreading further.

Use the old
"The customer is always right"
pulls out TEC9 and has a negligent discharge
5
u/impossiblegirlme 7d ago
Right? There’s a reason the thought exercise is the “trolly problem”. A car could at least try and stop, if they had time enough to decide which lame to be in.

This whole scenario only really exists to present AI driving in a bad light when the reality is that an AI would never be in this situation in the first place. Only dumb ass humans who drive way too fast would find themselves in this situation. An AI would follow laws and apply common sense like slowing down before a blind curve.
It would never find itself going too fast to stop in front of an unexpected obstacle like traffic lights or a pedestrian crossing because the only way that happens is if you're too much of a moron to adjust your speed so that you are capable of stopping in the area of the road you can see.
Smart and safe drivers always make sure they can stop in the area they can see. Only morons yolo around curves just expecting the road to be clear. Sadly the world is chock full of absolute morons who do exactly that. And that's a big reason why we have so many car accidents.

Too much pressure on baby. Reason being its life would be worth two lives now.
2
u/civilizedslavery 7d ago
So I can gain extra lives by getting people to choose someone else's over my own?
6
u/losttforwords 7d ago
What if they each only had 1 year left to live? Then who do we hit? Idk why I had that thought, but I did and now i can’t decide lol

That’s a really good point. I was thinking the baby at first, but your perspective makes a lot of sense. Anyway thanks for humoring me, I appreciate it haha
2
u/narikov 7d ago
I'd argue take out the baby. The granny has more friends, family and acquaintances that her death would affect compared to a 6ish month old baby who doesn't have colleagues, in laws, friends.
2
u/losttforwords 6d ago
That’s exactly what I was thinking, I just couldn’t figure out how to articulate it. ok the baby is my final answer lol

The obvious choice is going off the road if you for some reason can't stop after already slowing down because of the corner and seeing the red light.

There isn't another song that comes close to describing unrequited love. The desperation, the vulnerability, the way its all described.
It's a rare perfect song.

If a baby manages to crawl over the street unsupervised it'll happen again and next time you won't be present to avoid it. Basically a dead man crawling.

Funny theres no option to turn offroad. Theres not even any guard railings in the photo so there’s literally nothing stopping you from avoiding all damages except some minimal damage to your own car
